World Language End of School Year Projects

Toward the end of the school year, things get really crazy and hectic. Kids are burnt out, we teachers have been running on empty since approximately the third week of October, there are endless field trips, assemblies, promotion/graduation rehearsals, and other such interruptions to the instructional schedule… in a word, it’s chaotic!

I designed FOUR, EDITABLE World Language End of School Year Projects to help you and your students make it across the finish line! You can try a new project each year, or use a different project for each level you teach.

This resource includes Project Handouts, Project Checklists to keep your students organized, and already-made Project Rubrics that will save you a ton of time when grading.

This resource includes a PRINTABLE PDF (simply print, photocopy, and go!) as well as an EDITABLE GOOGLE DOC that you can modify to your liking.

These versatile projects can be used in any World Language class and with any level - Spanish, French, Italian, German, etc. and for beginner, intermediate, and even advanced-level students!

Additionally, I've included Directions & Suggestions for Implementation to help you implement these projects seamlessly, and I also include ideas for how you can use these projects at other times during the year (like during those awkward weeks before or after a break!).

FOUR Awesome Projects!

With four different projects to choose from, you can cycle through them each year, or use a different project for the different levels you teach. Here are the four projects you’ll get:

  1. Project #1: End of Year Review Time Capsule

    • Students will create a digital review time capsule that demonstrates their understanding of the major vocabulary, grammar, and cultural themes from this year. They will send their time capsule to their future self at the end of summer so that they have a great review/study resource to help them remember key concepts from this year before they begin their language studies next year!

  2. Project #2: Letter of Introduction to Next Year’s World Language Teacher

    • Students will write a letter of introduction to their World Language teacher next year, introducing themselves and allowing their WL teacher next year to get to learn a little bit about them prior to the new school year!

  3. Project #3: Language Learning Vision Board

    • Students will create a vision board for their future selves that depicts all of the exciting ways they will use your knowledge of the target language!

  4. Project #4: Cultural Travel Brochure

    • Students will plan for a vacation (real or fictitious!) to a locale in which the language they have been studying this year is spoken. To help them get excited for the trip, they will create a travel brochure for the given city, region, or country they have selected, in which they showcase all of the great linguistic and cultural features of their chosen area.
